For years, my husband and I have dreamed of visiting Washington, Whidbey Island specifically; the longest island in Washington situated in the heart of the Puget Sound. The state of Washington has so much to offer. A flight into Seattle will provide you with a days amusement exploring the Pike Place Market, maybe visiting the gum wall (yuck) and grabbing your favorite latte from the first Starbucks.
Heading west will give you a chance to visit Forks (any Twilight fans out there?) and watch the sunset on the ocean at one of the many gorgeous beaches. You may even want to visit the Hoh Rainforest inside Olympic National Park and take a stroll through the Hall of Mosses. If you venture two hours northwest, you might find yourself in the beautiful North Cascades National Park where you can take in turquoise alpine lakes like Diablo. A few hours south east? There you will find the breathtaking Mt. Rainier which stands alone, towering over you as you stand in awe.
Right in the heart of Whidbey Island is the gem of them all: Uncle Bob and Aunt Carolynn. For our kiddos especially, that visit topped all the beautiful topography! A week spent watching jets, eating delicious food, riding horses, shooting guns and just spending quality time together?! Yes please! I had the pleasure of capturing these two lovebirds, who just celebrated forty five years of marriage, while we visited!
Through the years, I’ve photographed an array of subjects: babies fresh out of the womb, families with energetic toddlers, teens who still smile when you play peek-a-boo, the milestones of seniors graduating and couples getting engaged. These two, though, gave me a new passion for capturing seasoned marriages. There’s something sacred about a long lasting commitment and I’m so glad we took the time to commemorate this season.
